Blutoot - Blue Breaches
I have wanted to create an underwater level for a long time, and with this project, I seized that opportunity. Right from the start, I had a fairly clear idea of what I wanted to create: an underwater level. However, my technical knowledge is not yet advanced enough to confidently create a fully submerged world, so I decided to make a dry section on the seabed. I chose to feature a whirlpool sustained by some kind of force, which creates a dry area within the sea.
Summary
It's a platformer game, specifically a later level in the game—let's say level 3. I didn't want to start with the first level but instead focus on a later one. This level assumes the player already knows how to move in the game, so there's no tutorial. It will be fairly standard compared to other 3D platformers, and the movement mechanics should be easy to pick up quickly.
Style
The goal is for the game to have its own style with a semi-cartoon look. This should be reflected in the character, props, and the environment of the world. Currently, it's still a work in progress to find exactly the right look, but this is the ultimate goal for the final version.
Objective
The heroine, controlled by the player, must collect a magical crystal in this world. She needs several of these to save the world. She must navigate through the level and solve its puzzles. Ultimately, she will face the level's boss, whom she must defeat to obtain the crystal.
Story
She is a chosen heroine tasked with saving the world. Every cycle, the universe is threatened by a calamity. To stop this calamity, the heroine must collect crystals.
The heroine travels from world to world via a hub, which is a temple in her home world.
In some parts of the game, I would indicate where the player needs to go using the camera, through in-game cutscenes to provide clarity about the level's objectives.
I know this story is quite cliché, but sometimes using a cliché is a good thing, as it relies on proven concepts and allows me to build a concrete experience more quickly, which is the goal of this project.
